Hello to one and all.
Welcome to 'Without a Dream in Our Hearts', a blog that will live and breathe Manchester City FC.
Readers will likely find no semblance of objectivity here. In case you didn't guess, I myself am a City fan. This makes the pursuit of balanced writing very much like City's title hopes: a pipedream. On my good days I will try, but there's never many of those when you are a City fan. Give it a few posts and I'm sure you'll see what I mean.
This blog is a journey into the Blue side of Manchester. It will chart the progress of the Club on and off the field and will attempt to unpick the complex tapestry of sucesses and failures that it will undoubtedly experience for the rest of this season and beyond.
Supporting Manchester City is like reading one of the most unpredictable novels ever written. It is high drama. It is all about pumelling teams into submission with attacking prowess and verve but then snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. It is the contradiction of the City anthem ‘Blue Moon’: of singing about standing alone without a dream in one's heart when the reality is very different.
For some readers (fellow City fans) this blog may well represent therapy. For others (of Salford United's ilk) it will likely have an iota or more of comedic value. For the neutrals out there, I guarantee that there will be always something of interest to read about here.
Who knows, you may even become a City fan yourself...
